Climb like a Colombian beetle
We created a road bike tour itinerary that goes deep into why Colombia is the best cycling destination. It’s not only the ride between two very vibrant cities, Bogotá and Medellín, and a very well know climb, like Alto de Letras, touted as one of the longest in the world, but also exploring the rural side of Colombia, what really make us, the locals, love this country with its ups and downs.
Imagine, the air feels shallow as you are grasping another puff of air, but you are relived and a high sense of fulfillment runs through your body. Just in sight you can see the summit. Your lungs inhale the light blue of the mountains, but your pores extrude happiness and satisfaction. That’s climbing like an Escarabajo. An intimate experience with the mountains. We take it from the name given to the Colombian cyclist in Europe during the 80’s and take it one step further.

THE ROAD TO ADVENTURE
Day 1 - Day 1: Bogotá
Day 1Arrival to Bogotá. We will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. In the evening we will go over the tour details with the group.
Day 2 - Day 2: Bogotá – Cachipay
Day 2Our first day is a great warm up for the upcoming days. The day’s ride is a good introduction to the changing landscapes including a couple of punchy climbs and enjoyable rolling landscape. Distance: 100 kilometres Altitude gain: 1500 metres
Day 3 - Day 3: Cachipay – Mariquita
Day 3Building on the expectation of the days to come, today’s stage will warm up our climbing legs. During the ride you will crown two climbs before being rewarded with great views on a long and sweeping descent. Distance: 120 kilometres Altitude gain: 2500 metres
Day 4 - Day 4: Mariquita – Manizales
Day 4Today’s ride is an unforgettable experience. The 82 kilometre climb is a test of patience and perseverance. Starting at 700 meters above sea level you will ride to 3800 meters while passing through several climatic zones. Distance: 105 kilometres Altitude gain: 3900 metres
Day 5 - Day 5: Manizales – Anserma
Day 5Today’s ride will reward you with some of the most incredible landscapes Colombia has to offer. We start with a swift descent. Day 9On this final day we will transfer you to the airport or help you with any local arrangements you may have made.
